WELCOME
A place is characterised by its stories and the people that bring it to life. And that’s why the Alte Post hotel in Müllheim is such a special spot. Behind the walls of what was once an 18th-century post house, you’ll find a place with a fascinating past – and a modern, forward-looking family business with a unique philosophy. Since 1986 we’ve dedicated ourselves to providing hospitality and to celebrating and protecting the natural surroundings of the Markgräflerland. Our hotel Alte Post boasts 51 exquisite rooms furnished with natural materials, sustainable and environmentally friendly cuisine, generously sized event spaces, a flourishing farm garden in the courtyard and a small park for rest and relaxation. It’s also our home – and yours too, for a little while at least. Being at home means arriving, having the chance to relax and just be, unwinding and enjoying life’s pleasures. If you’re here as part of a work event, then home can also be a place of inspiration and sanctuary. A haven on the edge of the region’s vineyards, with plenty of space for you and whatever you might need.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you.

PURE INDULGENCE AND A RESPONSIBLE APPROACH
The two go hand in hand at the Alte Post
The desire to strike a perfect balance between people and nature is part of our DNA. We are fully committed to this mission – on a personal level, at our hotel Alte Post and at Restaurant Hebelstube. We believe that food is most enjoyable when you combine a sustainable approach, organic farming and regional products with creative and ambitious cooking. A dish can only taste as good as the ingredients it contains, and it can only be as impressive as the chef’s skills at combining them. What makes the cuisine at the Alte Post in Müllheim so special? It’s our generous portion of creativity and our fresh approach – and a team led by a pair of true experts: our experienced head chefs Olaf Wortmann and Markus Martin.
A TRADITION AND A VISION IN HARMONY WITH NATURE
Our home is part of our identity, since the location of the Alte Post country hotel at the heart of one of Germany’s most scenic regions near the famous Black Forest in Germany has shaped our close affinity with nature. We’re surrounded by small villages and sunlit vineyards where the best grapes from the Baden region grow – and there’s also the Rhine flowing northwards. We consider ourselves part of this beautiful area and believe that it deserves protection, which is why we work in harmony with nature – both as a family and as a business – and strive to run our hotel in a way that’s environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible. This allows us to carefully combine tradition with visionary thinking.
ACHIEVING SUCCESS TOGETHER
Every vision or idea needs people who share it and embody it. To achieve our vision of sustainability, environmental protection and hospitality we rely on a strong and committed team that follows this maxim. For over 30 years we have employed people here at our country hotel at the foot of the Black Forest mountains. We stick together as a family and as a team. After all, we don’t just have our satisfied guests to thank for our success, but also our happy and committed employees, who feel that they’re valued and part of a larger whole. This only works if we all cooperate, and that’s why we’re so grateful for our fantastic team and for everything we’re able to achieve together.
